Finding Fatherhood Workshop

Saturday, June 17, The Ginger Goose will be hosting our first Finding Fatherhood Workshop at Newark Prenatal Massage and Yoga from 10 am to 12pm. While mothers go through the brunt of the physicality of pregnancy and postpartum, as a doula we are there to support the whole family.

Did you know that fathers are at risk for postpartum mood disorders (PMADs)? According to Dr. Robyn Horsager-Boehrer, M.D. (Obstetrics and Gynecology - Maternal Fetal Medicine at University of Texas Southwestern) "1 in 10 dads struggle with postpartum depression and anxiety." She points to a"2019 meta-analysis of studies found that the highest risk of depression during pregnancy for expecting fathers occurred during the first trimester. The study also showed that postpartum depression was highest among men when the baby was 3- to 6-months-old."

As a society we are realizing how important it is for moms to have community, connection, and education during this major life change. This workshop will be a chance for expectant fathers and those with children 0-12 months to meet and discuss Discuss how to look after yourself in this major life transition, what it means to be a dad today, and where to look for dad mentors. You will learn how to support your partner, where to go for help, support, advice and education about new babies.

This event is $15 and tickets can be purchased here. Book today as space is limited.
